Happy Turkey Day for all!!!

I have been cracking away on the Microstock. Not doing new shoots but going back to shoots from years ago and realizing how much good stuff I missed. It is to easy to fall into rushing through, already thinking of the next shoot before you finish the present shoot. I got to slow down on the coffee and be more in the present.

So here are several images I've slowed down to find so enjoy!

Jalama Surf Trip

Time to put the camera away, leave the computer behind and go on a surf trip! Hit the refresh button so I can pump out some new creative imagery. It was a much needed trip with my boys and we had a great time. Big surf and SICK Bocce ball...

High Ball

A term used in bouldering when the climber is high off the ground with a high probability of serious injuries if they fall off. There is a person spotting but often can only assist the falling climber with balance and slightly breaking the fall.
I chose this shot for stock imagery because of its conceptual variety. Will, fear, danger, determination, overcoming a challenge... etc...
The climber did make it!

Mammoth Trip

Well it is that time of the year again. Snow in the mountains! The trip was more for leisure but I did manage to sneak a couple shoots in. Special thanks to Joel, Justin, and Ayden for posing for the camera.

Circling Ravens

The circling ravens await the carrion that will remain after her kill. As this picture came together it dawned on me that ravens would be needed in the sky because ravens have long been considered to be birds of ill omen, in part because of the negative symbolism of their all-black feathers and eating of carrion. "How perfect in this situation." Then the image became a little too dark so I added the colors to the gloomy sky to make it a bit happier and comic like.

Lake Mirage

It was a beautiful day on Lake Mirage, a dry lake near Victorville known for it's speedway. We had a Yamaha FZ-1 redone to be a vintage track bike and rider, Ben Bostrom. Bostrom captured the AMA Superbike championship as a Honda rider in 1998, a year later Bostrom, astride a Ducati and still racing full time in the AMA series, won a Laguna Seca World Superbike race. In 2008, Ben Bostrom switched from Superstock to Supersport and led the Graves Motorsports Yamaha team to an AMA championship in the 600cc class.
And I was given the opportunity to photograph him riding for a cover shoot. We were going for a vintage look on the retro motorcycle.

FIRE!!!

As many of the images in the Comic series use elements of water I am now moving to different elements like fire. I thought of possibly basing the imagery in the four elements, Water, Fire, Earth, and Air as a starting point in creative process. Let's see what I come up with for the earth and air.
