State Farm thinks I am to Extreme?

So recently my insurance agent from State Farm (whom I insure my camera gear with) calls me up and says his bosses are a bit concerned with my extreme photography and because they are a conservative company they are don't want to take the risk to insure my gear from breakage. I told him that much of my imagery is an illusion, drama created to make a incredible image. Only if they knew I am standing 5ft from my truck with my camera on a tripod. He said he would tell the the bosses and get back to me. Then they reference to a camping trip I did with some of my buddies on my blog. The disadvantage of going with an insurance company that does not specialize for us nor understands what we do.

I've included some extreme image examples.

Outerspace danger

I think they were concerned about about the solar radiation and stray asteroids you find in space. And there is always the black holes that could suck up one of my cameras...

Volcanoes are not a laughing matter!

Molten lava, hail and cameras just don't mix!!!

Watch out for the giant!

I normally choose not to work with giants because of the unpredictable nature of these fierce beasts. You never know when you could get stepped on!

Anyway, I looked into other specialized insurance and there are much better options for professional photographers and media professionals. You can find good coverage for your equipment and liability insurance at the WPPI website. This would be my recommendation!

Motorcycle Shoot

Carlos Avelar

This is a shoot for a national motorcycle magazine. It took place somewhere in the San Bernardino National Forest.

Carlos Avelar, the creator of this masterpiece called Ancient Mysteries. Its all about the culture of the Maya Indians. He built this custom sport motorcycle in two months solid - day and night and then unveiled it at Yamaha Motor Marketplace at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. for the 2009 Red Bull U.S.Grand Prix. “Moto Gp”.

The squares you see on the faring’ are all hand carved with Dremel tools, each carved section represents original art from the Mayan Glyph writing system..

I wanted the bike in a natural setting and nothing to amazing to take focus from the bike. I thought this background was beautiful but not more than the bike itself. I was using the very last bit of light of the day, so I could accent the bike with its LED's and create a very dramatic feel.

I am pretty close to finishing the image but I like to sleep on it and retouch fresh in the morning so keep posted on the final image. I was just to excited to wait till tomorrow to post to my blog!

A Recent Shoot

Some times photography can be very hazardous and there is no option but to wear a hard hat and reflective vests. No Fear!

The Engagement of Suzanne and Matt

What a perfect day for some incredible shots and what an awesome couple to photograph. They claimed that they were not photogenic and looked horrible in pictures. I beg to differ! Anyone can look good in a photograph and it is part of the photographer's job to unlock the naturalness of their clients. Enjoy. Check back in to see some of these up coming shoots that should be incredible...

Wedding of Marianna and Trevor

This beautiful wedding took place at Calumet Park in La Jolla to a private estate. The colors were vibrant and the lighting was perfect.

Axion Photo Shoot

This was my latest photo shoot with Type G, a design company, for Axion shoe company. This image needed to flow with an image that Axion provided which limited creative ideas to a colored brick wall to match their photo. I shot the shoe in natural light not to look unnatural beside the image provided but still got some dimension going on.

Conceptual Climbing Shots

I shot this here at a bouldering area in San Diego. I also got a great climbing session before the light was right. I forgot how fun it is to climb rocks!

Team work for success!

A helping hand!

The Engagement of Jessica and Donta

This is a top secret location I just found and it is amazing.

Tropical Vacation

So this is a shoot I did on the day that my truck was stolen. This is the view we had from our room. It is so sad that we will not be able to enjoy this place that we had enjoyed so much. All I needed is a Corona bottle to make this shot complete.
