So the setting is Quail Botanical Gardens in Encinitas. I love shooting here because one moment you are in the desert and next in the rain forests of Costa Rica. The fauna is so diverse and makes for a great back drop.
I shot all the newest designs for Beyond Inviting. They create beautiful custom invitations, attracting high profile and celebrity clients. I wanted to include natural elements to go for an elegant and classic look. And I wanted to emphasize the beautiful detail that goes into every invitation. My first engagement shoot of the year. It was a overcast day, perfect lighting for Sarah and Scott and an opportunity for me to finally get these shots I had conceptualized a while ago. Wanted to incorporate architectural elements to lead the eye to the subject while adding a subtle background interest not to take the eye away from the subject. And what would the shoot be without the classic beach portrait. And of course the candids.
A personal project of mine for stock agencies. In the studio photographing all the flies I have tied in the past. This shot was inspired by my New Zealand trip where I did the best fly fishing of my life. I originally was going to do a separate shot of each fly but I thought it would be more intising for buyers if they got all of them.
Back from New Zealand. It was an amazing country for any mountain person. It may appear that I maybe a bit obsessive with fishing and you would be correct! Here are a few tuna's and a snapper.
The flyfishing on the Tongaririo River was incredible. The best fishing I have ever done in my life to date. I plan on finding better. Here are some rainbows and a brown.
